Student desks and tables come in all shapes and sizes and many are available to accommodate a student’s specific needs. Wheelchair accessible tables make it easy and comfortable for wheelchair-bound students to study and participate in class activities. Choose from a variety of round, square, or rectangular-sized tables to find the one that best fits your student’s needs.

Need wheels or a slanted desk for drawing or writing? With all the options and accessories imaginable, our selection of ADA classroom furniture offers the specific features needed for your special needs students. Choosing a specific wheelchair accessible student desk depends on the age and size of the student, the size of the wheelchair, and knowing which activities the student will be participating in. Activity Tables

Remember spreading out construction paper, scissors, and glue to create your favorite holiday project? Activity tables give your students enough space to spread out, work creatively, and participate in group activities without being hindered. These tables should be versatile; able to accommodate a variety of activities including writing, drawing, cutting, and painting.

With this in mind, it is important to know what you want in terms of size, shape, legs, table top and glides. Activity tables are offered in a variety of shapes including round, rectangular, and trapezoid-shaped. Specialty tables come in horseshoe, kidney, and flower shapes, bringing an element of fun and whimsy to any classroom. Adjustable legs are an important feature of activity tables, making it easy to adjust the desk for maximum comfort and accessibility. Steel legs make for a strong desk that can withstand extremely heavy weight and pressure. Choose between particle board, laminate, and plastic tops for easy cleanup and durability. Glides keep a high-use table from growing wobbly over time. Built to withstand long-term use, glides can add years of use to your activity tables. Browse the variety of student activity tables online and think of all the fun projects you and your students can create.

ADA Furniture

The ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act, requires a portion of classroom desks be wheelchair accessible. This means that at least 5% of your classroom desks must be between 28” – 34” above the ground, with 24” of knee clearance for wheelchair-bound students. ADA furniture comes in a variety of styles with a range of options which include adjustment method. Some desks are motorized, some are manually adjusted, and many are available with either flat or slanted desk tops. These desks usually offer a variety of accessories including casters, comfort recess, CPU holders, cable management and moveable keyboard and mouse features.

The most important thing to think about when choosing an ADA desk is which activities the student will be performing at the desk. Will they be working on art projects, writing, or typing? Once you know which type of desk you need, then size and accessory options are the next step. Many of your questions can be answered by browsing our selection of ADA approved furniture online.

School Desks

Need student desks for your classroom? Begin browsing any furniture website and you’ll realize you have more choices than you bargained for. School desks come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. They also vary in terms of price, durability, and functionality.

So which desk is best for your classroom? First, ask yourself what the desk will be used for and who will be using it. For example, a desk that opens from the top is often a better fit for younger students who generally stay in the same classroom. This way they can store their school supplies inside the desk without others having access to their belongings. But if you’re ordering desks for a classroom full of high school students, you’re better off ordering a large supply of smaller, more functional desks that have the durability to withstand years of constant use.

In addition to the user, you may also want to consider how long you plan on keeping the desks and then choose according to material. If you plan on holding onto your desks for a while, it may be wise to choose solid plastic, it’s the more durable of the two. Although fiberboard is slightly less durable, it is slightly less expensive. Also, when buying a desk with seat attachment, remember that it is important to buy both right and left-handed versions so that all students can be accommodated.

Browsing classroom desks online is a great way to learn more about the variety of options and prices available and can help you choose the right desk for your classroom.
